Pricing framework
Pole barn cost per square foot
A square-foot number without a scope is not a price. Kit materials, an installed shell, and a finished workshop can all be divided by the same footprint and still describe different jobs.
How BarnCost uses square footage
Square feet are derived from width × length on the BuildingSize and CalculatorConfig objects. The site does not store a separate square-footage field that can drift from the dimensions.
When production cost components exist, the engine totals sourced line items and then divides the range by square footage. That keeps $/sq ft as an output, not as a hidden average of unrelated projects.
| Size | Square feet | Cost page |
|---|---|---|
| 30×40 | 1,200 sq ft | 30×40 cost |
| 40×60 | 2,400 sq ft | 40×60 cost |
| 40×80 | 3,200 sq ft | 40×80 cost |
| 50×100 | 5,000 sq ft | 50×100 cost |
Documented pricing data is not loaded yet
BarnCost will not invent construction costs. This page uses shared building data for size, use, and configuration. Dollar estimates appear only after sourced CostComponents are loaded into the pricing catalog.

FAQ
- What is a typical pole barn cost per square foot?
- There is no responsible single number until scope is defined. Ask whether the figure is a kit, an installed shell, or a finished building, and which features are included.
- Why doesn’t this page show a $/sq ft table?
- BarnCost has not loaded sourced production unit costs yet. Publishing a table without CostSource records would be invented pricing.
